Our Story
How Began
, which stands for Triangle Black-Owned Businesses, was founded in July 2016 with a simple question:
"What would happen if we intentionally supported Black-owned businesses in our own community?"
After spending a week searching for Black-owned businesses and documenting the experience, Kevin Bethea discovered something surprising. Despite living in a region filled with talented entrepreneurs, he could only identify about 13 businesses.
The challenge was not a lack of businesses.
The challenge was visibility.
That realization led to the creation of .
What began as a simple Facebook group shared among friends quickly grew into a movement. Friends invited friends, business owners invited customers, and customers invited family members. The community continued to expand because people wanted a better way to discover, support, and connect with Black-owned businesses.
As grew, the focus remained local. Rather than becoming a national directory, concentrated on serving businesses and consumers throughout the Triangle and surrounding areas of North Carolina.
The belief was simple:
When we strengthen the local economy where we live, work, and raise our families, everyone benefits.
Today, has grown into a thriving community of more than 34,000 members and continues to connect consumers with Black-owned businesses every day.

exists to help Black-owned businesses generate leads, develop leaders, increase visibility, build strategic relationships, and expand opportunities through collaboration, education, networking, and economic empowerment.
